G’s Evaluation or the Top 258 for Week 10

Howdy, college football fans. I’ll get in to more analysis later, but I want to say I was wrong when I thought other weeks were weird this year. While it has been insane all season long, this week we had winless teams go a combined 6-3. UNLV (99) and Arizona (115) were the last FBS 0fers, until this week beating New Mexico (159) and California (133) respectively. Joining them from the FCS ranks were Albany (243), Bethune Cookman (238), Morgan St (256), and Lehigh (253). The remaining winless teams are Wagner (257), Houston Baptist (255), and Dixie St (249). Interestingly (at least to me), the new last place team is Bucknell (258) who lost to Lehigh.

…..

But there were disappointing times as well, unbeaten teams were 4-4 (with Oklahoma (2) on a bye week). The GCR #2 curse of 2021 continued with Wake Forest (12) losing to UNC (57) in a non-conference game meaning WF is still perfect in the ACC (did I mention 2021 was weird)? Joining the Demon Deacons in the FBS was # 10 Michigan St (also top 4 last week) who lost to Purdue (23). In the FCS, Princeton (94) who twice won 5-OT games earlier this season was horrible against Dartmouth (93) and perennial contender North Dakota St (78) dropped a game against South Dakota St (119) but are still in command of the Missouri Valley. That leaves just Sam Houston (58) in the FCS ranks as unbeaten. More on this later, but Sam Houston will be joining the FBS in the coming seasons – yes, more news in the conference realignment front in this evening’s post. In the FBS, Georgia (1), Oklahoma (2), Cincinnati (4), and UTSA (8) are the only left.

…..

All of that to set up more changes in the GCR that saw a 14th ranked Kentucky (33) drop 19 places, a 25th ranked Minnesota (44) drop 19, a 24th ranked SMU (42) drop 18, while 40th ranked Purdue (23) and 27th ranked Wisconsin (17) join the top 25. The top 4+ are UGA (1) holding to the top spot and looking like the best team in college football, Oklahoma (2) idle, but moving into the cursed second spot, Alabama (3) with one loss, looking shaky against LSU (56), but taking advantage of upsets, and Cincinnati (4), also looking like they are feeling the pressure, but a goal line stand (two actually) preserved a win against Tulsa (95). The just barely on the outside Michigan (5) retains its spot and Notre Dame (6) is in consideration now.

…..

But enough chit chat, here is the full list from UGA to Bucknell. I hope you enjoyed the post (thank you for reading). Please share with others and comment, G
