Just…wow, college football fans. I don’t know about you, but I am so tired from the stress of yesterday’s games that I may need to go back to bed after this post. Iowa (8) losing bad at home to Purdue (8), last minute games where the “better” team never led or gave up an early lead only to snatch victory in a heartbreaking manner, fans throwing mustard and golf balls on the field, near wins that would have stopped long losing streaks, etc. The GCR top 11 all stayed in the top 11, but are all switched up. Check it out below. First, let’s take a moment of silence for E Tennessee St (105), Rhode Island (129), Kentucky (6), and Iowa (8) who joined the loser’s club for the first time this year. On the flip side, UCONN (185), Cornell (241), and N Alabama (255) got a chance to celebrate for the first time. We also have 7 new members to the “qualified for a bowl” club: Air Force (31), Alabama (9), Baylor (12), Cincinnati (11), Oklahoma St (2), San Diego St (17), and UTEP (45).

With Iowa’s loss, we had a little bit of change in the top 4 with Wake Forest holding at #5 while idle: if the GCR was the deciding method and the season ended today: Georgia (1) would take on Michigan St (4) while Oklahoma St (2) would battle Michigan (3). With the battle for the state next week, either the Spartans or the Wolverines will drop out, but for right now, there’s your top 4. Idle Lehigh (258) retained the bottom spot and can honestly say “we didn’t lose”. One thing you may notice in today’s ranking: last week I added the SOS rank (1-258) and this week I added the Performance rank (1-258). It’s not quite this simple, but, as a rule of thumb, a better ranked performance score team will beat a worse ranked performance score on a neutral site. I’ll be back this evening for a deeper dive, but for now, here is all 258 Division 1 teams:
