G’s Evaluation or The Top 263 for Week 8

Welcome back and, may I say, “wow!” What a crazy week. After Georgia (6-1/13) upset previous leader Texas (6-1/8) the Top 10 got shuffled. The only member to drop out of that list was idle Ohio St (5-1/12) whose tenth spot was taken over by Tennessee (6-1/10). Both Army (7-0/9) and Navy (6-0/15) retain perfection.

Counting the 12-team FBS playoff, there are 82 spots available for post-season. Coming into this week there were 9 qualified teams. We now have 25. Congratulations to Clemson, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas St, Louisiana, LSU, Memphis, Missouri, Navy, Notre Dame, SMU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UNLV, and Washington St. Better luck next year to Kent St (0-7/104) for being the first team eliminated from bowl games.

With the Texas loss (and a Citadel win) we have not only a new #1 team in Indiana (7-0/1), but also a new #263 team in Valparaiso (2-5/263) with both wins against non-D1 opponents.
