Hello everyone. I just finished watching Indiana break the GCRs heart. Looking to go 2-0 and recovering from an awful 3-6 holiday, the Hoosiers said, “no, you will not have a winning day” and handed Tennessee (who fought hard and earned) the victory. I’m not counting Vegas wins even though Tennessee failed to cover, so the 1-1 mark takes me to a mediocre 24-12 and the skid continues. 4-7 in the last 11 games. The next 3 non-Sundays gives an all or nothing chance with 1 game each day.

Except for the championship game on January 13, the Power 5 is done. The SEC leads the pack with a 7-2 mark (with one to go). The Big 12 brings up the rear at a pitiful 1-5 record. Here are the current bowl standings with the teams that still have games to play.

Updating the averages going into the Idaho Potato Bowl (3:30 Eastern on the blue Boise field), the Group of 5 average OffEff is 99.2, their DefEff is 102.4, and their average GCR Ranking is 106.6. Ohio (44, 6-6, 2nd in the MAC East) will take on Nevada (122, 7-5, 3rd in the Mountain West West). Neither team played a current top 25 team. Ohio played 7 good (6+win) teams, 1 of which was a great (10+win) team while the Wolf Pack played 6 good and 4 great opponents. The Bobcats played a pretty easy schedule overall facing a combined opponent’s record of 71-80. Nevada was slightly better at 78-77. When the Wolf Pack has the ball, don’t expect a lot. Nevada’s OffDef is a below average 78 and the slightly below average DefEff of Ohio (97) will look strong. The story on the other side is a bit different. The Bobcats will face a porous below average defense (84) with a significantly above average offense (120). Expect a blow out. Vegas has Ohio -8.0. I think more than that – Ohio 74.4%.

That’s it for today. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you tomorrow.
