In Birmingham in a game that began at 2:00 Eastern, the Ga Southern Eagles (6-6/96) are playing the App St Mountaineers (5-7/103). The game is currently in the second quarter with just under 8:00 until halftime. The Eagles have soared to a 10-0 lead. These two teams played just a few weeks ago with GASO taking the game by 2, but that game was in Boone. App St was the last team to accept a bowl after 3 bowl eligible teams declined followed by a handful of other 5-7 teams. Thus, the rematch. Luckily, this is the only bowl today so, there could be some viewership for ESPN. Vegas has GASO-9.5 and the GCR agrees but only 55.5% so APST to cover.

Yesterday, the GCR was 5-3 straight up, but 6-2 against the spread! First, we had East Carolina upsetting Pittsburgh 23-17 in the Military Bowl. PITT was favored-11.5 but the GCR picked ECAR to cover. This was the only game that was split – we missed the winner but got the spread correct. Next was the Pinstripe Bowl where Penn St came to play and stomped Clemson 22-10. The Tigers were favored-2.5 and we missed both. The Fenway Bowl had Army overwhelming UCONN 41-16 and while the Black Knights were favored-7.5, the GCR picked an upset and missed on both.

For the rest of the games, the GCR was a perfect 5-0/5-0. The Pop-Tarts (sorry cookies & cream and cherry – toasted!) Bowl, won 25-21 by BYU over Georgia Tech. The Cougars were favored-3.5 and we picked them to cover. The Arizona Bowl was a blowout by Fresno St over Miami OH 18-3 with Fresno St favored-5.5 and picked to cover. The New Mexico Bowl was a close one. North Texas was favored-6.5 and we picked them to win, but San Diego St to cover – final score: North Texas 49-47. The Gator Bowl saw Missouri favored-4.5, but the GCR picked Virginia in the upset, which they did 13-7. The final game was the Texas Bowl in which LSU was a 1.5 underdog. The GCR picked Houston to cover and they won 38-35.
