Number 17 is the 9-team United Athletic Conference which is a merger of the Western Athletic Conference and the Atlantic Sun conferences when realignment left both of them with not enough teams to auto-qualify for the playoffs. Changes to the conference this season are the loss of Steph F Austin who left after 3 years to rejoin the Southland and the promotion of West Georgia from Division II.
