Men’s Basketball or the Top 365 for Week 5

Welcome back, sports fans. It is a truly wonderful time of the year when football is heating up with playoffs and bowl games, and both men’s and women’s basketball is starting to warm towards full-fledged conference play.

Today, we are looking at the Men’s GCR ranking and, like the women, we can use the SCORE column in the table below to predict games and even calculate a theoretical point spread. For example, if Team A has a SCORE of 78.48 and is playing at Team B with a SCORE of 77.12, we might, at first glance think Team A would be favored. But we have to add 4.5 points for home court advantage giving Team B a total of 81.62. So, the GCR would predict Team B to win. The theoretical point spread would be 81.62-78.48 or 3.14 – Team B by 3.0 (nearest 1/2 point). Hope that makes sense.
