Men’s Basketball or Who Will Play in the Championship Game?

And for part 2 today, we will focus on the men’s Final Four games. Yesterday, the GCR prediction model was 1-1 making our accuracy 26-4 so far. Tonight at 6:09 Eastern on CBS we are kicking off the men’s semis in an odd situation – it’s only the second time ever that the four number one seeds all survived to this stage. It’s a testament to how solid these teams are. In our first, all-SEC matchup Florida (34-3/2 with a GCR Score of 69.53) takes on Auburn (32-5/1 with a Score of 73.70). Despite some drops in February and March, Auburn is the GCR’s team to beat. Johni Broome is a force to be reckoned with if he’s on. Florida, having moved up to the GCR second spot is no slouch with the leadership of Walter Clayton, Jr (leading the team in points and assists). Florida won the head-to-head back in February 90-81 which was the Tigers second loss (the first was to Duke in December). The GCR favors Auburn in the rematch 56.3% of the time.

As soon as that game is over, Houston (34-4/4 with a Score of 69.00) battles Duke (35-3/3 with a Score of 69.12). Houston seemed like that quiet kid all year who just did his job – you know, maybe easy to ignore. Duke hit this season loud and proud with championship openly expected – win or bust. Most of the pundits I’ve read are all seriously in love with this Duke team and I understand why. Cooper Flag is a generational player this year leading the team in points, rebounds, and assists. Houston is more spread out and less reliant on the single player. Could be helpful, could be deadly. This game should be close and exciting to the very end – maybe a last possession or overtime kind of thing. The GCR sees Duke prevailing but only 50.2% of the time. This could be a nail-biter.

That’s it for today. Thank you, as always, for reading and sharing with others, G
