Women’s Basketball or The Top 363 For Lucky Week 13!

Welcome back, sports fans, as we start our week with the latest WBB ranking. We had some really good games such as the surprisingly dominant upset by Mississippi St (16-7/45) over Tennessee (14-5/17) putting MSST into the bubble. Not to mention Southern Cal (13-9/49), who is without JuJu Watkins this entire season, toppling Iowa (18-4/6). Or how about Mississippi (18-4/11) giving Vanderbilt (21-2/5) their second straight loss after opening the season 20-0 (Vandy took care of Florida in the next game to stop the skid). Princeton (18-2/18) was having a magical season losing only to Maryland (17-6/35) way back on November 16th, before dropping an ugly game to Columbia (14-6/65). Speaking of Maryland, they dropped their 4th straight, 2nd this week, with a double overtime defeat to Washington (17-5/29) and Oregon (17-7/38). They have also lost 4 straight home games.

We are now in February, and not to say previous games are unimportant because they are, it is crunch time. Most conferences end regular season this month or early in March when we turn our attention to the conference championships. Teams are not just jockeying for conference tourney seeds. Great teams are looking past to seeds in the NCAAs. Good teams are trying to earn a higher seed to get deeper in that tournament. Bubble teams are trying to build their resume. Mid-majors, especially those from conferences that typically only get one team in the NCAAs, are looking for NIT bids – so are the lower teams in the majors. There are 363 teams and well over 100 spots available just in those two post-season adventures. While almost every game is important, there are a few this week that really stick out.
