G’s Evaluation or What’s the Ranking BEFORE the Championship Game?

Greetings fellow college football fans. I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen, but it seems Covid may postpone the title game. We’ll keep an eye on it and be ready either way. It just reminds us of the near miracle that teams were able to play so many games. It also reminds us how brave the players, coaches, and staff have been to risk their health to entertain us when we needed it the most.

This post is not a reflection on the season (that will come after the championship game), but simply a ranking. The number of perfect teams is down to 2 and they will fight it out at some point so that, in spite of all of the weirdness that was this season, we will have a clear and unchallengeable champion. Here is where the GCR is today:

The top 2 teams, after all the games, debate, bowls, semis, and other hoopla will be playing in the championship. Clemson (5) fell out of the top 4 and Louisiana (8) rose to the number 1 Group of 5 spot edging out co-Sun Belt champion Coastal Carolina (9). Alabama (1) is joined by Texas A&M (3) and Georgia (7) in the top 10. Ohio St (2) is the only Big 10 representative while the Big 12 has two with Oklahoma (6) and Iowa St (10). Clemson is joined by Notre Dame (4) who have the distinction of being each others best win and worst loss at the same time.

There you have it. Look for the next edition which will do as much conference comparison (in season and bowls) as I can in this odd season. Thank you for reading and sharing with others, G
