G’s Expectation or New Day, New Madness

Welcome back, college sports fans, to episode 620 of the GCR – also the 20th consecutive day with at least one post and the Madness has just begun! Yesterday’s games were fun to watch with a few close calls but no major upsets. We are assuming that means get ready for a wild ride today.

…..

In the tables below, the Conf and Seeds columns are in the same order as the teams listed in the Games column. The NCAA has seeds for all teams for both men and women and “U” means unseeded. The Men’s NIT only has seeds for half of the teams. The Women’s NIT don’t have seeds at all. The Men’s CBC and the WBIT have no games today. As a reminder, in the Pred column, “NPre” indicates that the two GCR predictive metrics do not agree on the winner. Most games are on neutral courts, but NIT games and some first/second round Women’s NCAA games are played on a home court. In those situations, a 4.5 home court advantage is added to the metrics before comparison.

…..

For the women, the GCR was 13-2 (.867) in predictions bringing the total to 138-59 (.701). There are 98 teams left, so we still have 95 elimination games to go before crowning our 3 tournament champions. 18 more will fall today – 16 in the NCAA tournament and 2 in the NIT. All tournaments are in Round 1. Here are today’s bouts.
