Welcome back, college sports fans, as we jump into a 5-game slate today with all games in their respective tournament’s Elite 8 aka the Quarterfinals. Yesterday, the GCR was a perfect 6-0 which brought our overall total to 376-164 (.696). Our goal is .700 so we are inching close to it.
…..
In the tables below, all five games have predictions which means that both of the GCR’s predictive metrics agree on the winner. For the women’s NIT game, the seeds are listed U/U because for some inexplicable reason, that tournament does not publish seeding. As a reminder, the Conf and Seeds columns are listed in the same order as the teams in the Games column.
…..
The Women had 4 games yesterday and the 4-0 GCR record moved us to a 190-76 (.714) mark. With just 20 teams remaining (8 in the NCAA, 4 in the WBIT, and 8 in the NIT), there are 17 games left before we crown the three champions. We could reach 200 correct predictions if our success rate maintains and we don’t have too many Non-PRedictions (NPre). Here are the games for today.
| Tour/ Round | Time | March 29th Women’s Games (All Times Eastern) | Conf | Seeds | Pred |
| NCAA/E8 | 1:00 | Notre Dame (25-10/24) / UCONN (37-0/3) | ACC/BEast | 6/1 | UCON |
| NIT/QF (E8) | 2:00 | Montana St (27-7/29) / South Dakota (25-9/76) | BSKY/SUM | U/U | MTST |
| NCAA/E8 | 3:00 | Duke (27-8/9) / UCLA (34-1/1) | ACC/B10 | 3/1 | UCLA |
…..
The Men had just two games which raised the GCR’s prediction record to 186-88 (.679). With 18 teams left (6 in the NCAA, 4 in the NIT, and 8 in the not-yet-started CBC), the pressure is getting intense. On the prediction front, we could win 200 but would have to be nearly perfect. Even if we were 15-0 (the number of games left to crown the 3 champions), the correct prediction percentage would fall just below the coveted .700 number. Maybe next year. Here is today’s short but, just WOW! slate.
| Tour/ Round | Time | March 29th Men’s Games (All Times Eastern) | Conf | Seeds | Pred |
| NCAA/E8 | 2:15 | Tennessee (25-11/23) / Michigan (34-3/3) | SEC/B10 | 6/1 | MICH |
| NCAA/E8 | 5:05 | UCONN (32-5/4) / Duke (35-2/2) | BEast/ACC | 2/1 | DUKE |
