Welcome back, college football fans, to episode 677 or the final games for Week 0. Last night we had another set of all-FCS games, but today we add some FBS matchups to the mix for the first time this season. That includes a game in Ireland (North Carolina and TCU) and a few neutral site FCS games. Overall, we have 48 games on the docket today (8 FBS matchups) including long-time FCS powerhouse North Dakota St playing their first ever FBS game (Jax St).

Because not only are we using a new format, but we’ve added quite a few readers since last season, we’ll continue to describe the table below for a couple of weeks, then move to a more sporadic reminder for new readers. The first column shows kickoff time (always Eastern) which assumes an afternoon or evening game unless otherwise stated. The “Date” column lists the matchups with the away team first “at” the home team. If the syntax is team/team (N), it will indicate a neutral site game. The numbers in the parenthesis are wins-losses/GCR rank. If the parenthesis shows “N/A”, the team is a non-division I (non-D1) team and not included in the GCR. All D1 teams playing today are 0-0/37 because of the games Thursday and Friday. This table will be current through all games played prior to posting. Add to that the fact that all teams begin the season tied for first place and we get all teams that have yet to play a game are tied for 37th now. In the Conference column, if there is one listed, the game is a conference game, if not, the order listed matches the “Date” column. The Vegas line shows the oddsmakers favorite (for the first game, they believe TCU will win) and the line or spread of that victory (they see TCU winning by 8.5 points). Yes, we know a team cannot score a half-point, and that is why Vegas does that. If TCU wins by 9, anyone who bet on them would win, but if they lose or win by less than 9, whoever bet on NCAR would win. For lines ending in .5, there can be no push (that means every bettor just gets there bet back). The GCR column will show which team our algorithm calculates to win, but we have to have data (no games played yet for a team means no data), so we cannot predict (NPre) today. We also do not predict games that include a non-D1 team due to no data on that team. The Cover column is similar in that it uses the algorithm to predict which team will cover the Vegas spread. The final column lets our readers know where to find the game should they wish to tune it in.
